Appellations Meursault Gauffroy

The operation of the Domain Gauffroy Marc & Fils Meursault (21 - Bourgogne) extends over 10 hectares: mainly in the commune of Meursault but also Puligny Montrachet. It is in our cellars that we produce in oak barrels for 18 months minimum.

Our Regional

Bourgogne Aligoté

Bourgogne Aligoté is a wine full of freshness like a Spring breeze. With its pale gold colour, it has both floral (acacia and may flowers) and fruity (apple) aromas. To the taste, its mild, easy-drinking style livens the taste-buds with overtones of hazel-nuts on the finish.

Can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with grilled fish, oysters or even goats cheese.

Bourgogne Blanc

Whith a golden, clear, bright colour, often tinged with green reflections, Bourgogne Blanc from the Yonne "department" has gunflint, mushroom aromas. In the Cote d'or, there is more a honeyed, buttery, hazel-nut taste with nuances of fern, spice, "glacé" chestnuts. In the Saone et Loire, there are aromas of white flowers (may and acacia) ans silex. To the taste, a flavoursome wine, delicate without being light, full without being heavy, rich and firm, dry and quite deep with good lenght.
Can be served as an aperitif or with fish, seafood or with cheese such as brie.

Bourgogne rouge

The wines of this appellation can come from different Burgundy villages and this can show different tastes. However they all share certain common characteristics. To the eye, a rich colour, initially purple taking on a deeper ruby colour with age. The bouquet reveals an aroma assortment of small berry fruits, both red and black, strawberry, cherry, blackcurrant, bilberry, evolving towards cooked prunes, with nuances of black pepper and undergrowthmoss and mushrooms. Lively and well-structured to the taste winth a round and supple body. There is a fine balance between the fruit and tannins with a pleasant sense of secondary aromas. With a fleshy structure, this Bourgogne has good vinosity. Can be served with poultry, 'pot au feu' or even fish.

Crémant

A sparkling wine full of youthful character. All elements combine to underline its freshness and vivacity. With time it takes on the complexity of a great wine. Cremant de Bourgogne retains a lively, well-defined character. Demi-sec or sec (half-dry or dry), this freshness gently transforms into a more mellow taste.
Generally its colour is that of white gold. The bubbles are fine and form a delicate chain of pearls. The aromas of citrus fruit, with floral and mineral nuances accompagny a freshness and elegance on the raste with an acidity which permits the balance between the powerful aromas and the desired lightness. The blanc de blancs is specially perfumed with white flowers, citrus and green apple. With time, its aromas evolve with overtones of storie-fruit such as apricots and peaches and grilled bread.
Perfect as an aperitif, as well as troughout a meal.

Our villages

Puligny Montrachet

There white wines have a brillant gold colour with pale green reflections. The colour deepens with age. The bouquet conbines may flower, ripe grapes, almonds, hazel-nuts, amber, lemon balm and green apple. One can find also lactic aromas (butter, warm croissants) the minerality of silex as well as honey. The body and aromas of the wine melt into a subtile harmony, a well-defined wine with remarkable concentration.
Can be served with poultry in sauce, shellfish, seadfood and fish.

Meursault

Depending on the "premiers crus" and "climats" (vineyard sites), different taste nuances exist. Meursault white wine usually presents a green-gold colour, a lightly accentuated yellow going to polished bronze colour depending on age. Clear and brillant, sometimes there also silver reflections. Its bouquet brings to mind ripe grapes. When young, almond and grilled hazel-nut aromas are present within a floral background of may flower, elderflower, fern, lime-blossom and verbena with a flinty minerality. One finds also butter, honey and citrus on the nose. To the taste, it is a rich, fat wine with a savour of hazel-nut; the balance between mellowness and freshness is silky-smooth. With good lengh and well-structured, the wine needs time to mature. This is a wine to keep.
Can be served with white meat dishes, fine fish or grilled scafood/shellfish.

Meursault "Le Limozin" Vieille Vigne

The Limozin, small plot of 80 years established in low hill on the edge of Puligny-Montrachet road on beautiful land slopes sweet, bordering the Premiers Crus.

The product Limozin perfume wine, light, fruity, balanced. Intense, fat and round, it has a persitante length. Very good wine to with great potential.

Meursault "Les Tillets"

Placed on top, near the mountain, it has a certain elegance, a very pronounced mineral character with a touch of vivacity coated with fat.

The structure is right, complete angular. Like floral aroma. Powerful and long nose, thick lips, a good length, very fruit dry, a bit rustic but very tasty.

 

Our 1er Crus

Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes"

Operating temperatures

  • 6-8 ° C for Crémant de Bourgogne
  • 10 to 12 ° C for lively and fruity wines
  • 12 to 14 ° C for all other whites
  • 16-17 ° C for red wines
